Beneath the Surface
Welcome to Beneath the Surface.
This is a quieter space.
A place for the thoughts, memories and observations that often sit beneath my paintings—the feelings not always visible at first glance, yet somehow finding their way into colour, atmosphere and brushstrokes.
Here, I share reflections inspired by the ocean, wildlife, memory, stillness and the moments that shape how we experience the world around us. Sometimes a painting begins with a place. Sometimes a feeling. Sometimes something harder to name.
I have always believed that art can hold more than what we first see. A memory. A feeling. A pause. A reminder of something we may have forgotten to notice.
My hope is that this space invites you to slow down, reflect, and perhaps discover something that resonates beneath the surface.
Warmly,
The Quiet Tide Studio
From the Deep
“The ocean continues its slow, familiar rhythm.
Together, they disappear into the blue.”
The Still Tide
A peaceful seascape exploring the gentle rhythm of the tide through softened horizons, quiet atmosphere and the restorative presence of the sea.
Before the Rain
There is something about the air before a storm. You know the weather is changing before the first drop of rain has fallen.
Where Land Meets Memory
There are places that stay with us long after we leave them.
Veil of Sand
Sometimes care looks like standing in the vastness with someone and quietly saying, you do not have to cross this alone.
Beneath the Light
Sometimes it is the darkness around something that allows us to see its light.
Where the Sky Breaks
Beauty has a way of existing in unexpected places. Sometimes, even in the heart of something destructive.
The Black
"The stallion stood quietly, recovering from his journey across the land..."
Ocean Breeze
"The horizon stretches endlessly ahead. The rise and fall of the ocean continuing in its familiar rhythm... "
Quietly Sheltered
"Gently picking at the grass, I allow my gaze to drift across the views".
