Jennifer F is a UK-based artist whose work explores the quiet strength and beauty of the natural world.
Many of my paintings begin long before I pick up a brush. They begin with taking the time to notice.
Working primarily in oils, I create atmospheric paintings inspired by the sea, wildlife and the landscapes that leave a lasting impression. Rather than simply capturing a place, I paint to express how it feels to experience it, creating artwork that invites moments of calm, reflection and connection.
Over the years, painting has taught me to look more carefully. To notice the changing light across the sea, the quiet presence of wildlife and the small details that are so easily overlooked. That way of observing has become just as important as painting itself.
Why I Paint
Painting has always been more than the finished artwork.
It is a way of slowing down, noticing the world more carefully and holding onto moments that might otherwise pass by unnoticed.
Whether standing beside the sea, watching wildlife or reflecting on a landscape long after leaving it behind, I am drawn to the quiet experiences that stay with us. Those moments often become the starting point for a painting, evolving into something that captures not only what was seen, but also what was felt.
I believe art has the ability to create space within our homes and our lives. A gentle reminder to pause, breathe and reconnect with the natural world.
What Inspires My Work
The ocean has always been one of my greatest sources of inspiration.
Its changing light, endless horizons and familiar rhythm continue to influence many of my paintings. Alongside the coast, I am inspired by wildlife, open landscapes and the quieter details of nature that are easily overlooked.
Rather than seeking dramatic scenes, I am often drawn to moments of stillness. A mist settling over the sea. Light breaking through cloud. The quiet presence of an animal. These are the moments that stay with me, often long after I have left them, and gradually find their way onto the canvas.
Every painting is my own interpretation of those moments. Not simply what I saw, but what I noticed.
