Quietly Sheltered
At first glance, it can feel like an open landscape. Spacious. Quiet.
Yet the longer I sit with places like this, the more I begin to notice what quietly exists within them.
Movement in the grass. Water sitting softly within the land. Small details revealing themselves slowly.
There is something about sheltered places that has always drawn me in. The feeling of openness, yet also protection. Space to breathe, while still feeling quietly held by the landscape around you.
Perhaps this is why I wanted to paint Quietly Sheltered.
Not simply the feeling of open space, but the quiet life it contains. The way landscapes can appear empty at first, yet feel full once you begin noticing what is already there.
‘Gently picking at the grass, I allow my gaze to drift across the views. The slight rustle of leaves blowing in the wind, an insect buzzing lazily...I feel like I’m home.’
The Black
"The stallion stood quietly, recovering from his journey across the land..."
Ocean Breeze
"The horizon stretches endlessly ahead. The rise and fall of the ocean continuing in its familiar rhythm... "
Quietly Sheltered
"Gently picking at the grass, I allow my gaze to drift across the views".
