Where the Tide Breathes — Beneath the Surface

The coastline has a rhythm all of its own.
Not because it stays the same.
The weather shifts. Clouds gather and disperse. The tide rises and retreats. Grasses bend with the wind before standing quietly once again.
Everything changes.
Yet the meeting between land and sea remains.
That quiet relationship has always drawn me back to places like this. There is something reassuring about standing where two worlds meet, watching the landscape breathe in its own unhurried rhythm.
When I painted Where the Tide Breathes, I found myself returning to that feeling.
The sky came first, carrying the changing weather across the canvas. The land came later. I spent longer there, wanting it to become a quiet anchor beneath the ever-changing sky and sea. It was the balance between them that felt important.
Perhaps that is what I notice most when I stand in places like this.
I breathe.
My body begins to relax.
My eyes wander across the expanse of the sky, drift towards the sea, then settle on the smaller details held within the landscape. A tuft of grass moving in the breeze. A wave folding gently onto the shore. A gull circling high above.
Nothing asks to be noticed.
It is simply there.
Where the Tide Breathes reminds me that while the world is always changing, some relationships quietly endure.
The tide continues to return.
The land continues to wait.
And somewhere between them, there is always a place to breathe.
