The sea has a way of changing the pace of a moment.

Its movement continues without urgency. The horizon stretches beyond what we can comfortably hold in our thoughts. Light shifts across the water, and for a little while, everything feels more spacious.

Held by the Tide brings together paintings connected by that experience.

These works are not simply about the appearance of the coast. They explore how it feels to stand beside the sea and notice its familiar rhythm. Some paintings hold a sense of openness. Others are shaped by mist, sheltered water or the quiet movement of waves beneath a changing sky.

I am often drawn to the moments that sit between stillness and movement. The sea is never truly still, yet it can create a powerful sense of rest. That balance continues to influence the way I observe and paint coastal landscapes.

As you move through the collection, you may notice recurring horizons, softened distances and water that carries the eye gently through the composition. Each painting offers its own atmosphere, while sharing a connection to reflection, perspective and the restorative presence of the coast.
