Veil of Sand Hardback Journal | Jennifer F

Veil of Sand Hardback Journal

Created from my original painting Veil of Sand, this hardback journal features an imagined desert landscape, with overlapping sand dunes, distant violet mountains and a sky filled with soft, changing colours.

I've always been interested in landscapes where you cannot see everything at once. In Veil of Sand, the dunes rise and fall across the painting, partly concealing what lies beyond them. The mountains remain visible in the distance, but the land between them is less certain, and I find myself wondering how the landscape might change if I were able to walk further into it.

For the journal cover, I've taken colours and sections of the painting and extended them into a wraparound design. The warm sand and dusty pinks sit against a deeper blue-grey background, while the landscape appears in bands across the lower part of the cover. I've kept the title simple, allowing the colours and shapes of the painting to remain the main feature.

Part of my Quiet Presence collection, this journal offers another way to enjoy the artwork beyond the original painting.
