The Still Tide – Midnight Art Placemat

Created from my original painting The Still Tide, this placemat uses the darker colours of the seascape, with deep navy tones above a band of mist and the movement of the water below.

I've always enjoyed watching how the sea changes with the weather and light. Sometimes the horizon is clearly visible, while at other times the mist begins to soften the boundary between the sea and sky. Even when the colours become darker, there are still small differences to notice in the water and the light moving across its surface.

For this Midnight design, I've allowed the deeper colours to take up more of the placemat, keeping the misty horizon and the lighter touches across the sea. I like how the contrast draws my attention towards the water, where the smaller details become more noticeable.

Part of my Held by the Tide – Homeware Collection, this placemat is another way to enjoy the artwork beyond the original painting.
