The Black Art Cushion

Created from my original painting The Black, this cushion features a black stallion emerging from a dark background, with the light catching his face, mane and the details of his expression.

I've always been fascinated by horses, particularly the contrast between their strength and gentleness. In this painting, I wanted to capture something of the stallion's powerful presence while keeping his watchful gaze at the centre of the image.

For the cushion design, I've kept the darker background surrounding the artwork, allowing the lighter details of the horse to stand out. The restrained colours give the design a strong contrast while retaining the character of the original painting.

Part of my From the Shadows – Homeware collection, this cushion offers another way to enjoy The Black beyond the original artwork.
