Veil of Sand Art Cushion

Created from my original painting Veil of Sand, this cushion features the overlapping dunes of an imagined desert landscape, where the shapes of the sand gradually lead the eye towards the distance.

For this design, I've used a deep blue-grey background with a section of the painting running across the lower part of the cushion. The warm browns and muted earthy colours of the dunes stand out against the darker fabric, while the changing shapes of the sand give the design its detail.

One of the things that interested me when painting Veil of Sand was how the dunes conceal parts of the landscape beyond them. You can follow the curves of the sand, but you cannot quite see what lies further ahead, and that sense of distance has remained part of the artwork.

Part of my Quiet Presence – Homeware collection, this cushion offers another way to enjoy Veil of Sand beyond the original painting.
