Veil of Sand Art Coasters – Set of 2 | Jennifer F

Veil of Sand Art Coasters

Created from my original painting Veil of Sand, these coasters feature an imagined desert landscape, with overlapping dunes, distant violet mountains and a wide, changing sky.

I've always found desert landscapes interesting because the more you look at them, the more you realise how much of the landscape is hidden. One dune rises in front of another, concealing what lies beyond it, while the mountains in the distance give you some sense of just how far the landscape might continue.

For this coaster design, I've used the warm, earthy colours of the dunes across the lower section, with a muted blue-grey background above. I like the way the shapes of the sand overlap, creating areas of light and shadow, and how the warmer colours stand out against the cooler background.

Part of my Quiet Presence – Homeware Collection, these coasters are another way to enjoy the artwork beyond the original painting.
