About the Artwork

The Still Tide is a seascape from my original painting, where the sea stretches beneath a soft, grey-blue sky and the horizon gradually becomes less distinct.

I was interested in the small changes across the water, particularly the lighter marks on the surface and the way the colours shift between the sea and sky. Although the scene appears still at first, there is movement in the water and a sense of the weather continuing to change.

This postcard reproduces the original painting in a smaller format, retaining the gentle contrasts and details of the seascape.
