Veil of Sand Art Tote Bag

Created from my original painting Veil of Sand, this canvas tote bag features an imagined desert landscape, with sweeping sand dunes, distant violet mountains and a changing sky.

I've always been interested in landscapes where you cannot quite see what lies beyond the next rise. In Veil of Sand, the dunes overlap and disappear into one another, with their shapes changing as the light moves across them. The mountains are visible in the distance, but much of the landscape remains hidden, leaving you to wonder what might be waiting beyond the horizon.

For this tote bag, I've extended the muted violet and earthy colours of the painting across the design. The dunes run along the lower part of the bag, while the changing sky appears above a darker central band carrying the artwork's title. I wanted to keep the sense of distance and the contrast between the warmer sand and cooler colours of the sky.

Part of my Quiet Presence collection, this tote bag offers another way to enjoy the artwork beyond the original painting.
