At the Water’s Edge Art Placemat

Created from my original painting At the Water’s Edge, this placemat brings together the darker colours of a dramatic coastal landscape, where the movement of the sea meets the rugged shoreline beneath a heavy sky.

I've always been drawn to the contrast between land and water, particularly where the coastline is uneven and the sea changes colour as it moves towards the shore. The rocks appear solid and unmoving, yet the water is constantly shifting around them, catching the light in some places while other areas remain in shadow.

For this placemat, I've arranged sections of the painting across the surface, keeping the contrast between the rocky coastline above and the movement of the water below. The muted greys and earthy coastal colours work alongside the deeper blues, while the lighter areas of water provide small points of contrast.

Part of my Held by the Tide – Homeware Collection, this placemat is another way to enjoy the artwork beyond the original painting.
