Where Land Meets Memory Fine Art Print
About the Original Painting
Where Land Meets Memory was inspired by Man O’War Bay on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, but I wasn't trying to recreate the coastline exactly.
I was interested in the way we remember places. Some details can remain incredibly clear while others gradually soften, and sometimes what stays with us isn't a precise picture at all.
The cliffs, sea and changing light gave me somewhere to begin, but I allowed the landscape to develop from what I remembered rather than trying to correct it against the real place. Somewhere between the coastline itself and my memory of it, the painting began to take its own shape.
