'The Tempest' Original Oil Painting

This painting is one of my favourite seascapes which I painted from my imagination. I love how the sea can look calm while a storm cloud is approaching. The expanse of the ocean and clouds demonstrate an uncontrollable power. At times the stillness of the ocean belies a peaceful serenity, a calmness that lulls you into security. Whilst beneath the surface, the rage of the ocean swells, continuously moving. I feel that this can be representative of how we portray ourselves. Depicting a calm, composed manner, hiding the turmoil of pain and grief that can lay deep within.
